Go ahead and check it out, and let me know what you think!

From store profile:

"I'm a girl with a taste for all things vintage. I love the feeling that my house is full of history and age and hope this shop can help bring some of that feeling to your own home. Enjoy browsing and never hesitate to contact me with any
questions."

The Critters!

I'm a mama to three pooches and one furry feline.
They make my life crazy, wonderful, and fulfilled all at the same time.

First there was Lilly May
(a.k.a. May May, L-May, Winky, Little Bear, Bear Bear, Brat, Fluff Butt, Sweet Potato, Orange and Beautiful, and so on)
She was born on January 27, 2005 as feisty as can be.
She's a mama's girl through and through and has an attitude the size of Texas.
I adopted her from a shelter here in Missouri when she was a pup. She wasn't the first dog I went to meet, but we ended up together through some strange twist(ed) of fate and fell in love despite her temper.
We plan on growing old together. You know, sitting on a couch while I knit and drink iced tea and she complains that the younger fur balls are giving her an ulcer.

After Lilly May came Roxanne.
(a.k.a. Roxy, Roxy Poxy, Roxannie Pecanie, Grey Rocket, Nugget Cat and so on) We celebrate her birthday as February 14 (the day we brought her home, that was 2010) but don't know her age for sure. We're thinking she's 3-4 years old as of February 2011.
She came to us through unfortunate circumstances. Three months after my dad died, so did his then wife, and a petite little feline was left behind. For fear of what would have been done to her had she been left (the unfortunate things which happen to animals in rural areas sometimes), I scooped her up and brought her on a two hour trip back to our home, named her, got her all vetted, and invited her into a house for the first time. Now she gets cozy in just about every nook she can find and curls up with me in bed each day. I can honestly say she's one of the very sweetest cats I've ever met, and I'm so thankful she took to living indoors so well so she could become part of our family. She is so so very playful and cute. As I was writing this she ran across a lower chair railing with a piece of dog toy in her mouth and is now playing a self and self game of floor hockey. That gal's got talent!

After bringing Roxy home I officially got a job at a little local no-kill shelter providing canine care. I'm sure you can see where this is going.

That dude is Jasper
(a.k.a. Jasperillo Armadillo, Jaspie, Army, Arms, Sweet Boy, Wiggle Butt, and so on). He came into the shelter with his litter of brothers. Yep, all boys. Born on March 1, 2010. I fell in love with them all and was instantly sending texted photos to E and convincing him this guy had to be ours. And then he was!
Unfortunately, only a couple days after him coming home, I got word that some of the others had parvo. In a couple days time Jasper tested positive too and we began treatments at home. It was such a scary time, with that on top of his respiratory infection he already had going on, I was really worried he wouldn't make it, as some of the others didn't, but he did and today he is as beautiful, strong, playful, and loving as ever. He's our little (big) dude and is such a perfect fit for us. He's just such a normal dog, which was a big change from L-May, and loves everyone and everything.

After Jasper one other little guy came along to make our furry family complete.

My little Leroy
(a.k.a. Butterball, Cuddle Bug, Laaaroy, Little Bit, and so on). His birthday is October 23, 2006.
On the evening before halloween of 2010 a few people from the shelter went to a puppy mill auction to try to rescue as many of the pooches as possible, thanks to generous donors and their funds. I urged them to save the chihuahuas (the one small dog I have a huge, gigantic, enormous spot in my heart for). I left a Halloween party early on that night to go help bathe, comfort, and care for the incoming dogs, and Leroy was amongst them, the lone Chihuahua who came back with this crew. He also happened to be a little long-haired cutie, my favorite. After helping out that night I set up a carrier and brought him home with me, and then back and forth to the shelter while I worked for a few days to keep an eye on him. After an initial vet check he went downtown for 9 teeth to be removed (they were rotting and nearly falling out on their own already) and to be neutered (he will be a "stud" dog no more). Then it was back home with me where I've been nurturing him with daily cuddles, healthy food, clean water, and lots of soft and comfy spots to snuggle into ever since. He's still very scared of people he doesn't know and trust, but has been my guy from the get-go. This little guy completed my life in a way I didn't know I needed until he came along (yep, I'm crying right now), and I am so thankful to be able to give him a home where he will never know neglect and where we will do our best to ease his fears.

Life with four furry ones is full of adventure and can get pretty crazy with all their special "quirks", but their sweet love and snuggles make it all worthwhile.

The Lady Behind the Blog

Howdy! Thanks for stopping by!

My name is Sara, Sara Beth, Sarbear, Booger Butt, Love Bug, and so on.

I live in St. Louis, Missouri with my fella and our four furry children. You can find out more about the critters on their own page: here!

I'm a student of Communications, a lover of all things crafty, thrifty, and D.I.Y., and a long-time vegetarian who eats vegan probably 90-95% of the time.

I love to knit, explore, take photos, ride my lover (my bike!...get your mind out of the gutter!), spend time with my fella, make memories with friends, and spend time with my family.

Me and my fella are tying the knot in June of 2012 which is super duper in every way exciting.

I long to have a brood of children who I can raise to be awesome little people and hope to get started soon!

If you have any questions ask in the comments and I'll gladly answer!

Thanks for coming by my little corner of the interwebs.
Ya'll come back now, ya here?

My Take on Health and Fitness

Heeeyo!
I'm currently focussing on eating more nutritious foods and being more active.

I have some hormonal health issues so it's really important for me to keep these things in check and to attempt to lose a little weight in order to help my condition and to help my chances at healthy pregnancies.

My favorite ways to be active are riding bikes, walking with the dogs, and spending time in water.
I'm also a big fan of a good yoga practice and spin class when I have the chance.

My main obstacles in being healthy are my emotional attachment to food and my ginormous sweet tooth.
These things are ones I'll be working on for many years I'm sure, but I'm a big fan of celebrating any little successes along the way.

Look for my Super Self Love posts each week where we'll talk about loving ourselves more despite anything which stands in our way.

Sound good?

Love and Health,
Sara
